Ammeter

An ammeter is a device used for measuring current by flowing from the red to the black probes in the meter. It is placed in series with the circuit element whose current is to be measured. It monitors all the current flow to and from the battery.

Uses of Automotive Ammeter

• It monitors power coming in/out of battery.
• It indicates whether the electrical system is charging, discharging, or staying ''level".
• Measures the flow of electric current in a circuit

Types of Ammeter
According to how they function, ammeters are of two types:

• Simple Ammeter
• Modern Ammeter

Characteristics of Motorcycle Ammeter

• An ideal ammeter has zero resistance so that the the circuit in which it has been placed is not disturbed.
• An ideal ammeter is a short circuit.
