Crankshaft

Engine Crankshaft is the main driving shaft of an engine that receives reciprocating motion from the pistons and converts it to rotary motion. It converts the up and down motion of the piston through a connecting rod into rotational motion. It was invented by Turkish inventor Al-Jazari in the 12th century.

Characteristics of Engine Crankshaft

• It plays an important role in determining engine power characteristics and engine power feel.
• Usually, the crankshaft revolves more than 5000 times per minute.
• The crankshaft is the common connecting point of all the pistons in the engine.
• It revolves at a high speed.
