Automotive connectors/cables are specifically designed electrical connectors and interconnect assemblies for use in automobile systems such as ignition, sensor feedback and control, safety and power systems. They play a very critical role in connecting switches, wires, lights, electric motors, sensors, computers and plugs. They are also known as Ignition Cable.

Characteristics of Electrical/Ignition Cable

• The cables of a two-wheeler are usually bound into a bundle known as a harness or loom.
• It provides the basic support for the vehicle's electronic system.
• It should be of high consistency.
• It should be stable over a wide a temperature range.
• Should be durable and have high resistance to harsh environments.
• It should have oil resistance.

Maintenance of Electrical/Ignition Cable

• The wires and cables should be protected from any contact with a metallic part to avoid a short circuit or a fire.
• The wiring should be checked at regular intervals: in most cases, a broken or dirty connection is responsible for electrical failure
• Invest in a good wire stripper to avoid stripping the cable.
• The connector terminals should be cleaned with an abrasive paper for a smooth finish.
• An eye should be kept on the system as a whole.
