Characteristics of Exhaust Pipe
- An exhaust pipe must be designed so that it will carry toxic gases away from the users of the machine and insure that carbon monoxide or other poisonous exhausts are not stored inside the engine.
- The exhaust pipe must be heat-resistant, and it should not pass through or near any combustible materials.
- In two-stroke engines, there is an expansion chamber in the pipe which create a pump that squeezes more air and fuel into the cylinder during the intake stroke. This provides greater power and fuel efficiency.
The main function of the exhaust pipe is to direct out the exhaust gas from the engine. It also acts as a connector of the whole exhaust system.
