Characteristics of Fuel Line
- Fuel lines are placed far away from exhaust pipes, mufflers and manifolds to avoid excessive heat which can cause vapor lock.
- They are fitted to the frame, the engine and other units to give minimum vibration and freedom from contact with sharp edges.
- They should have protective tubings.
Some of the materials most commonly used to make fuel line are:
- Steel Fuel Line
- Copper Fuel Line
- Aluminum Fuel Line
Maintenance of Fuel Line
Proper maintenance of fuel line along with the fuel tank gives the engine better performance and can reduce chances of oil spilling.
- Care should be taken to use the same metal as before when replacing fuel lines. So, steel lines should not be replaced with copper or aluminum.
- If heavy frost is the problem, flexible tubing should be used.
- Protective tubings should be used for longer life of the fuel line.
- At the time of servicing, fuel line and fuel tank should be emptied completely.
