Materials used for making Vehical Fuel Tank
Vehical Fuel Tank is generally made of stamped and brazed or welded sheet metal. Sometimes blow molded high-density polyethylene are also used to make fuel tanks. The materials should be strong and durable to meet environmental requirements. Some materials used for making Vehicle Fuel Tanks are:
- Aluminum
- Steel
- Plastic
- Fiberglass
Proper maintenance of vehical fuel tank and fuel line gives better performance to the engine and can reduce chances of oil spilling. Rust is one main problem that the fuel tank faces. It occurs mostly when the tank is not kept full all the time or when stored for a very long period of time. It is more common in humid environments. Some care to protect the tank against rust are:
- Vehical Fuel Tanks should be filled to maximum as much as possible.
- When they have to be parked for a long period of time, say for more than 6 weeks, a fuel stabilizer should be placed inside the tank before filling it up.
- If the vehicle has to be parked for a more longer period then it should be drained completely and air dried. Silicate packets should be put inside.
- Vehicle Fuel Tank should be sealed against moisture or air. The fill cap and the vent cap should be put in place and secured tightly.
