Meter Parts

The meter parts of a two wheeler are used to measure the speed of the vehicle, how fast it is moving per hour in miles or kilometers. It also measures the speed at which an engine shaft is rotating. Autometer parts records the amount of distance traveled by the vehicle. It is usually located in the middle of the handle frame.

The autometer parts consist of:

• Speedometer: It measures the speed of a vehicle. It can be either numerical or a dial with needle. A flexible rotating cable is fixed between the final output of the transmission and the speedometer. Speedometer can be of two types: cable driven or electronic.
• Tachometer: It measures the speed of the rotating engine shaft at revolutions per minute. There are two types of tachometers: Contact type and Non-contact type. They are similar with speedometer in construction and operation.
• Odometer: It records the the distance that a vehicle travels. It is of two types: Mechanical odometer and Digital odometer.
• Ammeter: A device used for measuring the current flow, to and from the battery.
