Rectifier / Regulator

A Rectifier-Regulator is a standard part of the electrical charging circuit. It is a combined unit, doing both the rectifying and regulatory part.

Functions of Motorcycle Regulator/Rectifier
The motorcycle regulator/rectifier perform two separate functions:

• The motorcycle rectifier part of the Regulator/Rectifier convert AC into regulated DC.
• The motorcycle regulator part supply the required load to keep the voltage within specified limits. It does so by consuming the excess electrical power as heat.
• Instead of preventing its formation, it "soaks up" excess electricity.

Maintenance of Motorcycle Regulator/Rectifier

• The worst enemy of the Motorcycle Regulator/Rectifier is overheat. It happens mostly in hotter climates. For preventing overheating, a cooling fan can be placed on its top.
• Proper grounding of the Motorcycle Regulator/Rectifier is necessary for the proper functioning of the battery.
• The connections should be checked regularly and can be coated with dielectric grease.
