Types of Wheel Rim
- Spoke: In the spoke wheels type, rims are "laced" with spokes. They are joined to the hub by a series of light metal spokes arranged in a number of regular patterns. Each of the spokes serve a particular purpose.
- Compact Disc: In this type, the wheel rims are all cast as one unit.
Some of the materials used for making wheel rims are:
- Aluminum
- Carbon Fiber
- Magnesium
- Steel
- Glass Fiber
- Examine the sidewall of the tire where it meets the rim to see if there is any indication that the tire is not fully seated.
- Also make sure the tire is installed correctly, arrow pointing in the direction of travel.
- Vitally important to inspect two-wheeler rims and clean them on a regular basis to help prevent spoke failure or corrosion weak points.
- If a few spokes fail, it can lead to flat tire.
